Delta Air Lines » Baggage Allowance
When flying with Delta Air Lines from Australia, such as from Sydney to the
United States, the standard baggage allowance depends on the class of service
and frequent flyer status.
Checked Baggage
Economy Class passengers are typically allowed 2 checked bags free of charge
when traveling to/from Australia.
Each bag must not exceed 23 kg (50 lbs) in weight and 157 cm (62 inches) in
combined linear dimensions (length + width + height).
Delta One, First Class, and Business Class passengers are allowed 2 checked
bags, each up to 32 kg (70 lbs).
Carry-on Baggage
All passengers may bring:
• 1 carry-on bag (maximum dimensions: 56 x 35 x 23 cm)
• 1 personal item (such as a laptop bag or purse)
There are no weight restrictions for carry-on baggage on most Delta flights, but
items must fit in the overhead bin or under the seat.
Excess Baggage Fees
If your checked bags exceed the size or weight limits, excess baggage fees will
apply. Overweight bags (23–32 kg in Economy) or additional pieces beyond the
free allowance may incur extra charges starting from AUD 100–200 per bag,
depending on weight and destination.
SkyMiles Medallion Members, SkyTeam Elite, and Delta Sky Club members may
receive additional free baggage allowances based on tier level.
