Thai Airways offers a generous baggage allowance for passengers traveling from
Australian airports, which varies depending on the travel class and destination.
For Economy Class, passengers are typically allowed 30 kg of checked baggage.
Those flying in Premium Economy (if available on select routes) may receive a
slightly higher allowance. Royal Silk Class (Business Class) passengers are
usually allowed 40 kg, while Royal First Class travelers are granted up to 50 kg
of checked baggage. Thai Airways uses a weight-based system, meaning there's no
limit on the number of bags, as long as the total weight doesn’t exceed the
permitted allowance.
Royal Orchid Plus Gold and Star Alliance Gold members are entitled to an
additional baggage allowance of 20 kg, regardless of travel class, offering more
flexibility for frequent flyers.
In addition to checked baggage, all passengers are permitted one piece of cabin
baggage, weighing up to 7 kg and not exceeding the airline’s size dimensions.
Business and First Class passengers may be allowed an additional carry-on item,
depending on the aircraft type.
Infants not occupying a seat are usually allowed 10 kg of checked baggage plus a
fully collapsible stroller or bassinet.
Excess baggage fees apply if your luggage exceeds the allowed weight, and rates
vary depending on the route. Passengers are encouraged to pre-purchase excess
baggage online at a discounted rate compared to airport prices.
