Thai Airways offers a Mandatory Unaccompanied Minor (UM) Service for children
aged 5 to 11 traveling alone, while passengers aged 12–17 can use the service
optionally.
Here’s what parents/guardians need to know when booking from Australia:
Booking Requirements
The service must be arranged at least 48 hours before departure via Thai Airways
offices or authorized agents.
Submit a completed Unaccompanied Minor Form, including guardian contact details
and pick-up person’s ID.
A fee applies (varies by route; confirm when booking).
Airport Procedures (Australia)
Check-in: Arrive 3 hours before departure at the airport (e.g., Sydney,
Melbourne, Brisbane) with the child’s passport, visa (if required), and UM
documents.
Escort: Thai Airways staff will guide the child through security, immigration,
and boarding.
During the Flight
The child will be seated near cabin crew for supervision.
Meals and entertainment are provided, but special dietary requests should be
pre-arranged.
Arrival & Pick-Up
The designated pick-up person must present photo ID and sign a release form at
the destination airport.
Delays or changes must be communicated immediately to Thai Airways.
Restrictions
UM service is not available on connecting flights with other airlines.
Flights must be direct or operated solely by Thai Airways.
