Virgin Australia offers flexible cancellation and refund options, depending on
the fare type purchased and when you cancel.
Cancellation by Passenger
Economy Lite and Choice Fares: These are generally non-refundable, but
passengers can cancel and receive a Travel Credit if cancellation is made before
departure.
Economy Flex and Business Fares: These are more flexible and fully refundable if
cancelled before the flight departs.
All cancellations must be made via the Virgin Australia website, mobile app, or
by calling the Guest Contact Centre at 13 67 89 (within Australia).
Travel Credits
If eligible, passengers receive a Travel Bank credit, valid for 12 months from
the issue date. It can be used for flights, seat selection, and baggage fees on
future bookings.
Refunds
Refunds to the original payment method are available for Flex and Business
fares.
For refundable fares, the process may take up to 21 business days.
Passengers can request a refund via an online form or by contacting customer
support.
Flight Disruptions or Airline Cancellations
If Virgin Australia cancels your flight, you are typically offered:
• A free rebooking to a new flight,
• A Travel Bank credit, or
• A full refund, depending on your preference and fare type.
